What do you like best about working at the port?

The work is enjoyable but it’s the friendliness of all other work colleagues that makes it worth-while. Everyone is out to help each other.

Best Day?

First time boarding a new quay crane and being able to venture round it and fault find at the same time.

What did you do before your current role?

I was studying electrical installations at college while holding two part time jobs.

Describe your role at the Port of Felixstowe:

I’m working as an apprentice training in electronic engineering which involves working with PLC’s, software programs and maintaining them to ensure all plants work correctly.

What is the biggest challenge of your job?

The biggest challenge is coming across problems with no information what so ever and overcoming them.

What do you find most satisfying about your role?

When a challenging problem/fault arises and the feeling of overcoming and fixing it.
