BREAK-BULK CONSOLIDATION AND HEAVY LIFT SERVICES AT PORT OF FELIXSTOWE

COMPLEX NEEDS, SIMPLE SOLUTIONS -

A BESPOKE SERVICE TO MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS

Not everything can be conveniently shipped in a container. That’s why, as a core aspect of our logistics solutions, we offer our customers a specialised cargo service to handle Break Bulk and Out of Gauge cargo.

A dedicated team works closely with heavy lift specialists, charters and non-container lines requiring multiple or one-off shipments.

A significant competitive advantage can be gained by utilising the port’s Break Bulk and Out of Gauge Lifting services. From yard to vessel or vessel into store, we can provide a complete handling service. Whether your consignment is arriving at the port already lashed and loaded on a flat rack, or in need of lifting, lashing and securing on-site or on-vessel, you can be assisted without impacting core container operations.

CONSOLIDATION AND DEVAN

Cargo exceeding internal dimensions can be consolidated onto flat racks for onward travel.

A dedicated secure area is utilised by a highly skilled specialist cargo team. Using innovative lashing systems and techniques to load, lash and secure most types of cargo, to ensure cargo is ready to be transported safely to its destination.

The team will work closely with customers to carefully plan a bespoke devan and revanning service to meticulously meet customer needs.

SPECIALIST EQUIPMENT AND SPECIALLY TRAINED PERSONNEL

New lifting equipment and a specially trained dedicated team will plan and deliver a comprehensive service tailored to customer needs:

  • A new Ramshorn provides capability to lift up to 100 tonnes – depending on load, outreach and berth
  • Investment in new nylon webbing slings reduces the overall tare weight of the lifting rig and increases overall lifting capacity
  • New MAFI rail cars with a safe working limit of 100 tonnes enables a full handling service, including through store and transportation of cargo to and from vessels
  • Berths 8&9 include ship-to-shore gantry cranes with 62 metre outreach and a lifting capacity of up to 70 tonnes.

Cargoes falling outside these dimensions require further information to be supplied, (e.g. lifting point positions, lift plans and photographs) to enable a more bespoke service for the customer.

SAFE WORKING LIMITS

The information below shows the safe working envelopes of our ship-to-shore cranes. Heavy lift mode increases the Safe Working Limits (SWL) of the crane, but it will restrict the outreach over the vessel – this needs to be considered during the planning process.

Another key piece of information is the planned stowage position for consignment, which will determine how to proceed with lashing and securing cargo safely onboard.
