Contact us

The Port of Felixstowe is one of the UK’s major Ro/Ro ports. We are ideally located for trailer traffic between the Midlands and South of the UK and the European continent. Using Ro/Ro through Felixstowe can help cut delays and save road miles, emissions and cost.

Ferry company DFDS operates three sailings per day to Vlaardingen (Rotterdam) using vessels of 190-260 trailer capacity.  Each sailing is scheduled to meet the requirements of the trade.

Recent improvements to the Ro/Ro facilities include an increase in the number of trailer parking bays, the lengthening of No.3 Ro/Ro berth, the replacement of the previous hydraulic ramp at No.4 Ro/Ro berth with a larger floating linkspan and the addition of a new onsite inspection centre, designed and built to service current and future Ro-Ro examination requirements.

Helping DFDS daily

Ro/Ro operations are predominantly focused on providing a high level of service and commitment to DFDS Seaways on their three-vessel service, which provides 16 sailings weekly to Vlaardingen (Rotterdam) in the Netherlands.

The route is currently serviced by three flower class DFDS vessels, capable of carrying between 190 and 260 conventional Ro/Ro trailers, all with a high reefer handling capability.

Working in partnership with DFDS, the Port of Felixstowe’s auto-gate system facilitates self-service driver bookings, both in and out of the terminal.  DFDS provide a dedicated driver services counter adjacent to the terminal in-gate for, all driver accompanied, dangerous goods and other extraordinary cargo bookings.
