The Port of Felixstowe was pleased to welcome a group of Design & Technology teachers from across schools in Suffolk. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase how the port operates in practice, helping teachers to connect classroom learning with real-world applications. The group explored the wide range of career pathways available within the port, from engineering and operations to technology-driven roles.

During the visit, the teachers were given an insight into modern port operations, including a visit to the operations hub, to see first-hand how the operations centre and autonomous systems support the efficient movement of cargo. A guided tour of the port enabled them to experience the scale and complexity of one of the UK’s busiest container terminals.

By strengthening links between education and industry, the port hopes to support teachers in inspiring the careers of the next generation and to highlight how subjects such as Design & Technology play a vital role beyond the classroom.
