Port of Felixstowe Autonomous Truck Implementation

In another significant step on the journey towards Net Zero and technological advancement, the first implementation phase of the port’s Autonomous Truck (AT) project began today, 22 April 2024.

The quayside implementation of ATs will be undertaken in four phases, phase one represents the first interaction of ATs with full mixed-mode traffic in a quayside environment. All phases will be conducted under strictly controlled safety conditions with the ATs following predesignated routes.

Prior to implementation an extensive training programme was undertaken to ensure all employees and third-party visitors, including hauliers, have a full and comprehensive understanding of necessary safety protocols.
