The Port of Felixstowe welcomed the maiden call of the Ane Maersk, the world’s first large methanol-enabled container vessel as it made its first call in North Europe in March 2024.

The 16,600 TEU ship is the first of 18 similar vessels Maersk has on order and sails between Asia and Europe. A number of the port’s new electric tractors were deployed on the ship during its call, giving a glimpse of how low-carbon maritime supply chains can operate.
